Lybe Scientific has developed an innovative method for rapid and precise isolation of DNA and RNA from biological samples. The technology is based on magnetic nanoparticles and is used in medical diagnostics, drug development, aquaculture, and life sciences.
The technology provides faster, more sensitive and more accessible analyses. During the pandemic, the company proved that the solution worked and had a good effect.
— It means a lot to us to be chosen among so many innovative and strong companies. Our ambition is to develop sustainable solutions for the future by streamlining and improving the quality of laboratory analyses. This nomination helps to highlight our technology as an important contribution to this work, says Tonje Steigedal, CEO of Lybe Scientific.

With its magnetic nanoparticle-based technology, Lybe Scientific demonstrates a groundbreaking solution to a central and global need in molecular diagnostics and biological analysis, writes the Norwegian jury in its reasoning.
The jury was particularly impressed by the combination of high precision, significant time savings, and the ease with which the technology can be adopted. The company's strong contribution to sustainability, well-thought-out IP strategy, and international growth potential were also highlighted.
Many good nominees
A total of 42 nominations were received in the competition to become Norway's contribution.
In addition to Lybe Scientific, Renasys and Masterchannel were honored during the announcement of Norway's contribution.
Renasys AS develops advanced, modular filtration solutions for wastewater. The filter solutions provide cost-effective and chemical-free upgrading of existing treatment plants, reducing emissions while recovering valuable resources.

Masterchannel AS has developed an AI-driven platform for automatic music mastering. The solution makes professional sound quality accessible to both independent artists and professional players. The technology is globally available through integrations with leading music platforms.

– This year's jury work has been both demanding and inspiring. We have considered many strong and very different candidates, and the competition has been tough. At the same time, we are very pleased to have landed three top candidates who in different ways showcase the best of Norwegian innovation. The winner particularly distinguishes itself through a sustainable combination of innovative height, implementation ability and international potential.
The Nordic Innovation Award is a Nordic innovation prize supported by the patent and trademark authorities in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. The award is presented annually to highlight and recognize innovations with great potential, inspire startups and businesses, and demonstrate the importance of protecting intellectual property rights.
