How to pay for application or renewal

Are you applying for or renewing a trademark, patent, or design? On this page, you will find information about the costs, how to make a payment and where to get a receipt.

How to pay for the application

  • You pay a fee when you apply, and it must be paid before we can process your application.
     
  • You can pay the application fee by VISA, MasterCard or invoice.
     
  • We do not refund the application fee if you withdraw your application or if it is rejected.

Receipt for paid application fee

Once you have submitted your application, you will be able to access the receipt on the receipt page in Altinn. There, you can choose to:

  • download the receipt to your computer, or
  • have the receipt sent to your email.

Are you applying on behalf of a company?

All correspondence from the Norwegian Industrial Property Office will be sent to the company’s inbox or archive in Altinn. In order for you to view messages and receipts, the general manager must assign you the role “Patent, trademark and design” in Altinn.

How to pay for renewal

  • You must regularly pay a fee if you want to retain the rights.
     
  • You will receive a notification letter when the payment deadline approaches, but no invoice.
     
  • You can pay with VISA, MasterCard or bank transfer.
     
  • If you choose to pay with VISA / MasterCard, the payment is processed immediately. If you choose to pay by bank transfer, you make the payment at your bank or online banking using the details provided in the order.

You can pay for the renewal directly to our account number if the payment system is not working for you.

  • Please include the application number for your trademark, design, or patent when making the payment.
  • Please be aware that no receipt will be provided for this payment method.

Receipt for paid renewal

You can find the receipt in the payment system under "My orders and receipts", when you are logged in.

Current legislation

Fees and charges paid in excess of NOK 300 will not be refunded unless requested.
