Electronic signature on documents to the Norwegian Industrial Property Office, NIPO

We have started a trial project to accept several types of electronic signatures in design and trademark matters. This mainly applies to signatures on authorizations and declarations of consent. We will be able to adjust practice according to developments in the area. We will also be able to tighten the requirement.

NIPO already approves qualified electronic signatures on documents such as powers of attorney and declarations of consent. Such signatures are linked to national ID or passports and there are few that are approved (see ID-Porten | Help pages for joint solutions ). In practice, these are unavailable to many of our customers.

From 1 December 2024, we accept advanced signatures from well-known national and international providers. This is for example:
