How much does it cost to register your trademark, collective mark or hallmark in Norway?

Trademarks

Application fee - trademarks

When you apply to register your trademark, an application fee is payable. An invoice will be sent to the applicant.

Renewal fee - trademarks

Your registration lasts for 10 years from the date of application. You may renew your registration every 10 years an unlimited number of times. You will not receive an invoice for these fees, but we will send you a letter of notice approx. 2 months before your registration expires.

  • Renewal Fee for up to 3 classes: NOK 2600
  • Additional fee for each class in excess of three: NOK 1000
  • Additional fee for late payment of renewal fee: NOK 550

Other fees - trademarks

  • Application to alter a registered trademark: NOK 1200
  • Opposition against someone else's registered trademark: free
  • Administrative review of a trademark: NOK 4000
  • Request from a third party that a mark be invalidated: NOK 1900
  • Dividing an application: NOK 2900 for up to 3 classes, and additional fee for each class in excess of three: NOK 750
  • Resumption fee: NOK 550
  • Notification of change in ownership: free

An invoice will be sent for these fees.

International registration - trademarks

  • Clearance fee payable to the Norwegian Industrial Property Office for the processing of an application for international trademark registration: NOK 800. An invoice will be sent.
  • Other fees due in connection with an international application (Madrid Protocol) are payable directly to WIPO

Collective marks

Application fee - collective marks

When you apply to register your collective mark (what is a collective mark?), an application fee is payable. An invoice will be sent to the applicant.

  • Application fee including registration for up to 3 classes: NOK 4000
  • Additional fee for each class in excess of three: NOK 1650

Renewal fee - collective marks

Your registration for a collective mark lasts for 10 years from the date of application. Registration can be renewed every 10 years an unlimited number of times. You will not receive an invoice for these fees, but we will send you a letter of notice approx. 2 months before your registration expires.

  • Renewal Fee for up to 3 classes: NOK 5150
  • Additional fee for each class in excess of three: NOK 2100
  • Additional fee for late payment of renewal fee: NOK 1200

Hallmarks

Application fee - hallmarks

When you apply to register your hallmark (what is a hallmark?), an application fee is payable. An invoice will be sent to the applicant.

  • Application fee including registration: NOK 1000

Other fees - hallmarks

  • Administrative review of registration for hallmark: NOK 2500
  • Resumption fee for hallmark: NOK 500

An invoice will be sent for these fees.

Payment of fees

All payment deadlines are final. You must pay the fee or charge well before the deadline in order to avoid late fees, and possible dismissal of your application or registration. The fee should be in NIPO's bank account on the due date.

You can pay renewal fees up to 12 months before the due date. You can also pay the fees up to 6 months after the due date by paying an additional fee for late payment.

We do not accept checks or cash for payment of fees and charges.
